predicting tip

Here is where I’ll share an additional or new tip to help with your sunrise and sunset chasing.

Take to the water. A sunrise or sunset reflection on the water can double the colours you see. Using a water housing for your phone means you can capture incredible content from the ocean, swimming pool, lake or river. If you don’t fancy getting wet, or buying water house, then you can use something as simple as a puddle to duplicate the sky

sky of the fortnight

This sky comes from one of the best Filipino content creators who captures the sheer majesty of the country - especially its blue waters. Here Warren Camitan showcases one of the tourist hotspots in the Philippines through golden hour in El Nido. You just have to take one look at his page to see why you’ll never want to leave the archipelagic state.

where to visit?

There are so many incredible places to visit in the Philippines that you will never be able to hit everywhere you want in one trip. Below is just an example of a two-week itinerary from creator Nishi V. My trip was for three weeks and I visited Siargao, Camiguin, Moalboal, Coron, El Nido and Manila - so you’ll see there are even spots on the below recommendation I missed out on. Ones for next time…

out the window

Whenever I travel somewhere I am often looking for places to stay that have a unique or mind-blowing view.

Waking up to a sunrise over the jungle and ocean views from this accommodation, which is steps from Maremegmeg Beach in El Nido, is unforgettable. This spot, Colibris Corner, was recently featured in the National Geographic Luxury Travel Collection and once you’ve seen it you’ll know why.

Items that can help you be a better sky chaser.

One thing that I have found recently with my footage, given that I shoot most of the videos handheld on my phone, is that it can be shaky. I’ve recently got the DJI gimbal which I’m excited to transform my content even more.

bucket list

Sunrise and sunset spots from around the world I’m desperate to visit. Drop me an email (reply to this) to share your favourites for the chance to be featured. This is also a great way for me to highlight other wonderful creators you may want to follow.

sunrise spot

As with the Iceland edition, I’ll share with you a location I’ve visited along with one I haven’t, but for your bucket list. For sunrise it’s somewhere I didn’t make during my trip, which gives me all the most reason to return. This view over the popular El Nido town looks unforgettable.

sunset spot

The sunset in this country are absolutely incredible. This location is one of the more unique places I went to and is situated on wonderful Camiguin Island. The area is called Sunken Cemetry in honour of a cemetery that was buried after a volcano explosion back in the 1800s. The cross structure was erected later on creating a breathtaking view.

blame it on the moon

Coming up on 25th January (or thereabouts) will be the first full moon of 2024. This Leo moon will no doubt be a spectacle to look at provided there isn’t too much cloud cover. This website helps you know the best time wherever you’re based as dates can vary based on time zone.

Are you ready for your trip to the Philippines yet? If you have any questions drop me a DM on Instagram or pop a comment on some content - I love to help people discover this mindblowing place.

What are your travel plans for 2024? Don’t forget to plan in a sunrise and/or sunset whilst you’re there.
